Harajuku

too tired for a proper update, harajuku was HUGE! with everythign from walking human vending machines, china dolls, flea markets and traditional Shinto wedding ceremonies - we certainly had an experience today.

We wandered the streets for hours and did a bit of shopping - although navagating the human sprawl was trying ... literally like swimming up stream. After lunch, we went to Meiji Jingu shrine where we saw not one but two traditional shinto weddings. very surreal, very beautiful.

tomorrow is Disney, everyone going to bed early - myself included. will let you know how it goes. Corey

I’ve just spoken to a tired teacher. Finding the time to keep a blog up to date while following a hectic schedule is hard, so I’ll fill in some gaps. Sorry if some fine detail is not right.
Parents, yes, you really did see Mrs O’Malley get on the plane and she is still hanging in there with your kids. In fact, when they arrived in Tokyo, she led the spearhead with 19 students to Ikebukuro (where the hotel is), while 2 students and Mr Edwards stayed on the platform in Tokyo. To their credit, the advance party waited at Ikebukuro station till the stragglers turned up.
If the FTV/Media students have got a fraction of what Mrs O’Malley has got out of the film studios etc, then they have learnt heaps. She is inspired and there is now a little GSHS boomerang left at each one to thank them for their attention. Unfortunately they didn’t get to the Animation Museum. They got off the train at Suginami when one student realised they had left something at Ghibli, and ran out of time after they went back for it. Kimiko, our friend who has assisted in making contacts, will email the museum to apologise on Gordonvale’s behalf.
Before Harajuku, half the party went to a Bonsai farm, a manga museum (another inspiration) and had a beautiful cherry blossom moment. The bonsai farm was like a backyard with some of the world’s best bonsai. I believe Mitchell was impressed.
Sue, give Joe’s and my love to Misa tomorrow (She is now married with kids close to Tokyo, but as student, stayed with us when on exchange at uni in Qld, and we’ve stayed in close touch for 20 years)
Emma, I don’t know you, but if you like takoyaki you’re allright.
Travellers, if you are trying to get rid of coins at Narita shout yourself some “Black Black” chewing gum (advertised as truck driver’s gum, and the best I’ve ever had). If you don't like it, you can give it to me at Cairns airport.
Have fun at school!

Hey Edwards!!!
Angela here I just wanted to let you know that we all had a wonderful time in Japan. The 8hr plane flight home "sucked ----"(Lauren) and everyone was somewhat saddened when it came time to leave! Despite losing a couple of people, meeting crazy goths and transvestites the japan trip was Amazing. I dont want to give you too much of an ego boost but Mrs O' Malley and yourself made the trip as enjoyable as possible.
Ps. Sleep in tomorrow:D
